Formartine's is the perfect Scottish day out, with something new to taste and discover on every visit.
In the heart of Aberdeenshire's farming land, on the National Trust's historic Castle Trail you will find Formartine's - a pioneering, zero-carbon building, set in acres of beautiful woodland.
Bring the family and explore our woodland walks and outdoor adventure area or unwind in our relaxed eatery with a tasty lunch made with the finest local produce or a delicious homebake and some fantastic ethical coffee.
Browse and buy in our food hall and gift shop stocked with hand-selected delicacies - from produce picked from our own grounds and smoked foods from our own smokehouse to ready meals prepared in our own Kitchen.
Our innovative building design contributes vastly to our green credentials, built using granite found on the original site and Scotlarch sourced within 100 miles of Russwood's Highland Sawmill. We have a heat recovery system which recycles existing "waste" heat so successfully that it provides all heating and hot water and we use renewable energy for electricity which gives us a 100% zero-carbon emission status.
In our first year of trading we are delighted to report that we have not only achieved a Gold Award in the Green Tourism Business Scheme and a 4 star status from The Scottish Tourist Board, we where recently crowned “Scottish Champion” in the Countryside Alliance Award for Best Rural Start Up in Scotland.
Formartine's is committed to minimising the impact of its activities on the environment. We are focused on being an ethical & sustainable business, we will actively seek to improve our environment and community.View our Environmental Policy
